How to overclock on intel motherboard-overclocking on the intel DG31pr,overclocking intel e6550,overclocking intel cpu

well many people unaware of overclocking buy Intel motherboards and repent later as the overclocking option is locked in BIOS of intel board.well don’t give up coz there is a way that may just work out for you to overclock your processor even on Intel motherboards

There are certain software available out there that raise your cpu FSB directly on your desktop, but overclocking through BIOS is always better.Anyways as we don’t have such option here in intel boards we have no choice but to use these software’s.I wont confuse you by telling you all the names of the software’s available out there ,for now we would use a software called CPU COOL.
All you need to do is Google it and download the latest version. This is the first step .
second and another most important step is to get the PLL number of your mother board.

so whats a pLL ?

“A phase-locked loop or phase lock loop (PLL) is a control system that generates a signal that has a fixed relation to the phase of a “reference” signal. A phase-locked loop circuit responds to both the frequency and the phase of the input signals, automatically raising or lowering the frequency of a controlled oscillator until it is matched to the reference in both frequency and phase. A phase-locked loop is an example of a control system using negative feedback.”

I hope you got something ,anyways you need not worry what a pll is ,remember you need the pll to overclock your processor thats all .Different motherboards have different pll manufacturers ,most common one is IDT and ICS.

To get the Pll of the Motherboard ,open your cpu case and search around the GMA(graphic media accelerator) its nothing but a big silver colored cube beside the cpu ,now search around the GMA for the pll,it will be a small black colored chip with pll number and manufacturers name.Note down that and we are ready to go.

For test purpose we choose the Intel Dg31pr ,we found its PLL as IDT CVI90BPAG.
This is how the PLL chip looks

Install cpu cool and restart your system,Launch cpu cool and click on configure
cpu11

Check cpu clock frequency under Functions tab
23

Simply click I dont know ,no problem on doing that.
35

Now select PLL manufacturer name and number,be sure to select the correct name and number that you have discovered .
42

Click on set frequency,if you are unlucky like me you will get the following message or else you can set the frequency there itself
53

Now click on Fine tune and keep pressing +10 until you reach your cpu bus speed,if you don’t know what is the bus speed of your cpu ,Google the name of your cpu and look for its default bus speed or else simply keep pressing +10 until you reach the frequency that is shown on the top under current frequency.Increase a little more from stock frequency, press +10 twice or thrice only after you reach the default CPU frequency as we are testing and not sure how well the motherboard can handle this ,stay low in the beginning, increase only 20-30 fsb and click on set frequency and check the use at start up option. This should overclock your cpu as we have shown.

Overclocking voids your hardware warranty and also decreases its life span,do this at your own risk.
