AMD the world’s second largest supplier of CPU and currently largest supplier of GPU has decided to drop it’s GPU brand ATI, which it acquired in 2006.
ATI as we know, has the best performing card’s in market followed by NVIDIA. ATI has been in GPU manufacturing since 15 years and has dominated 7 of last years as largest GPU supplier would be now extent. ATI has always been favorite brand of most of the gamers over the world.AMD has decided to remove the ATI brand name and keep AMD-Radeon/Fire pro for the forth coming gpu models, the current models how ever would retain the Ati name.
There shall be no problem in high end market as high end GPU buyers are generally gamers, or techies who have enough knowledge of what’s going around but this decision will surely make AMD loose some share for GPU as common man has habit of preferring GPUs of NVIDIA or ATI brand. This will put conman buyers in dilemma and they may eventually end up getting NVIDIA GPU over AMD.
