why core i7 needs ddr3 rams?

well friends you might have heard of the latest processor line up form intel The core i7(code named nehalem),now its just isnt another new processor ,the reason i am saying this is you cant just go and buy and install it right away like other quads or core 2 duos on your 945 and above chipset based motherboards (lga socket 775),the setup requires a x58 chipset(lga socket 1366,to know what a lga socket is refer to my other posts) based motherboared and also ddr3 ram,yes ddr3 rams are compulsary!!

Now people who might know this may find this boaring but wait,it isnt over yet ,hmm so the core i7 needs ddr3 rams ,ever wondered why ?? do u think its just because to show it off as next generation architecture or to make the whole setup even faster ,many people might be thinking that a ddr3 ram adds charm to the whole rig making it faster and intel is making some smart move here,no i disagree!

well intel just cant help it ,since it would be a bottleneck on the cpu’s performance if we use any ddr2 dynamic ram(to know what is a bottlenecking is jus check out my post on it)
to understand what i want to say u’d need understand the setup how a processor works? so ill try to be as brief and comprehensive as possible .

Your processing engine is a setup of three things ,
1)the processor
2)cache memory
3)dram(dynamic ram)

Now generally the speed of execution of the cpu is very very fast as compared to a dyanamic ram(to know more about the dynamic ram and its working please refer to my post on it)and the ram cannot coop-up with the cpu and take instructions from itand carry on its work ,so it uses the cache memory ,in the cache memory(it is nothing but static ram and its very fast but costly compared to the dram ,to know more about it refer to my post about cache) instructions and memory locations that are accessed continiously and more often are kept and since it is much faster than the dram the problem is solved to some extent.

well the thing here is the cpu got much more faster so that the ordinary ddr2 ram is not even able to syncronize with the cpu.. you might think why not have more cache but truth is even though you have large cache it wont help (and also cache makes the processor size bulky and much costlier so u cant jus afford to increase this).

So to get the full out of this processing monster we need the ddr3 rams..but remember not even a ddr5 ram can ever match the speed of the core i7 or any superior processor but we cant afford to use costly static ram and also since cache concept gives a great amount of relief here we need not worry much .
